Chili flakes have been used both as a food and a medicine by Native Americans for over 9000 years. They are a member of the Capsicum family which includes bell peppers, red peppers, paprika, and pimento. The most famous medicinal members of the family are cayenne and chili. The tasty hot peppers have long been used in many of the world’s cuisines and medicines.
Our crushed chili flakes are medium hot, but not overwhelming, and add a nice chili flavor to any dish. This variety is a bit hotter than the crushed red pepper you will see on the tables of Italian pizzerias. Try them with pasta, spaghetti, Asian stir-fry, salads, sauces, casseroles, eggs, marinades.
